China Plans Surprise Attack on Taiwan

As if this isn't alarming in its own right, the fact thatRussia USSR is conducting joint military exercises with China in the WESTPAC area is even worse. Nothing here makes me feel good.
What would the US response be? Like the UK response to Czechoslovakia in 1938, or like their response to Poland in 1939? If I were a betting man, I would take a pass on this one as being too close to call, unfortunately.
I wish we would adopt a benchmark for foriegn policy decidions: WWWCD. (What would Winston Churchill Do?)
