Living and Dying In These Modern Times
The head puppy blender himself makes some interesting comments concerning the concern with dying that has been stimulated by the recent attention to the Terri Schiavo case, and the demise of the Pope.
I especially liked his concluding paragraph:
...amid all the ethical concerns raised by new technology, it's easy to miss the most important thing: That as these new "problems" appear, they do so in the context of societies that are richer, healthier, and better off -- enough so that they have the luxury of worrying about problems that weren't problems at all in earlier days.
Indeed. The rest of the article isn't bad either.
